Some More Gift Boxes with Cards

A few weeks ago I posted about a few boxes I had made after seeing this YouTube video by Robyn aka injoystampin. Here is a link to that post. I so enjoyed making them that I just had to make more. They have been a big hit with others also, they love the idea of using them to box cookies to give for the holidays, so I have even sold a few, email me if you are interested. I have plans to make more. Here are some of the ones I've made ..

A Christmas Angel

Last year I came across this blog post by Maya Road design team member Jennifer Beason. She made an angel by altering the chipboard Christmas Tree Layered Book, I thought it was amazing, and I just happened to have had that chipboard book so I had pulled it out and cut the pieces but that was as far as I got, so this year when I pulled out my Christmas stash and found it, I decided to finally make the angel, and here is what I created.

This paper line is a few years old and I don't remember what it is, but I do love it. I guess that's why I bought it in the first place, lol ... For the wings I used a large white chipboard butterfly that I cut in half and embellished with Stickles. The banner is a scalloped chipboard rectangle that I painted in off white and dusted the edges with a golden yellow chalk ink and then stamped the Rejoice with document ink using a stamp I got recently from the dollar bin at Michaels.

A Quick DIY

I've taken a little detour in the midst of creating ... For years now, stemming back to when I was a Stampin Up Demo, I have been using sponges to apply ink to my projects, and it's been working just fine, but it can be messy on my hands. I know that there are ink applicators to purchase out there and call me cheap if you must, but with a limited budget for craft supplies, I would prefer to buy bling, flowers or other fun stuff over that. So I dug into my craft stash and found supplies to make my own.
Here is what I used ...
I took 2 of the rectangle wood pieces and glued (Mod Podge) them together for thickness. Then glued the "handle" on. I adhered the velcro to the bottom, I used my tape runner because I only had the sew~able velcro not the sticky backed, and it worked just fine, it is very sturdy.

Then I cut a strip of felt into the appropriate size pieces to pop onto the velcro, and I have a ton of felt left over.

I'm going to use up the rest of the supplies and make 3 more. This project cost me nothing at the moment because I had the supplies on hand, but it is a very inexpensive project.
Each bag of wooden pieces was $1.47, the felt was .50 @ Michaels and the velcro I had gotten at Dollar Tree. 4 applicators for under $1 each, not to bad, I'm pleased.

Some Treat Bags

I don't really get into the whole Halloween thing anymore since my son is grown and we live in an area where not many kids Trick or Treat. The past 2 years we have had no kids come around, the town and local fire dept. each hold events for the kids so the parents just bring them there. I still buy candy just in case, our favorites, there is no sense having it go to waste .. LOL .. Even though Kyle is grown and doesn't go trick or treating per say, (his girlfriend was dressed as an Indian and I tried to get him to dress as John Smith but he would have none of it :/ ) .. I still make him up a treat bag, so I dug into some old Halloween papers and this is what I put together. ..
The bigger bag is the one I made for my son, I just cut the image part of the Patterned Paper and adhered it to the front of a lunch sack and cut the bats and witch image from another paper. The papers are My Minds Eye and the letter stickers are Making Memories. The smaller bag I made just because I saw this video by Dawn aka ChicknScratch and I thought it was cute.

2 Fun Cards

Ok I truly spend way more time looking for things to create than I do actually creating. I have a project To Do list a mile long .. :/ .. But when I come across things that are out of the ordinary I must do them right away and these 2 cards are among those. The first is a Center Step Card. I have been seeing a lot of the Side Step cards but when I saw the Center Step it really appealed to me so I had to give it a try. Here is the link to the tutorial I used.

The other card I made was the Twisted Easel Card. Here again, I've seen Easel Cards but when I saw the Twisted version I had to give it a try. Here is my "twist" on the card that I made for my Husband to keep on his desk. It is super easy. Here is the link to the tutorial for this one.

A Birthday Trio

A friends daughter is turning 13 this weekend so I made this card, and a matching box for a necklace I made for her. I just love the colors in these S.E.I and Pink Paislee papers. I made the necklace with some glass beads and ribbon.

Christmas Gift Boxes

I spent the weekend digging into my Christmas supplies after I saw this YouTube video by Robyn ~ injoystampin. They are boxes with a card attached to the lid. I've decided I'm going to make a bunch for home made baked goods or chocolates to have on hand for neighbor gifts or for a hostess gift for all of the holiday invites. I'm happy with how they turned out and I'm looking forward to making more.

I Received Some Love in the Mail

This was my week for some mail love from some very special ladies. First I received a package from my sister Donna with some goodies for each of us in the house but what she sent me was a pleasant surprise. In the beginning of the year I came across ~wristlets~ on the web, they are knitted, and/or crocheted fingerless gloves, I fell in love, it normally does not get cold enough here in FL for gloves but it can get quite chilly in the winter months and these would be perfect. So of course I sent a picture to Donna saying how much I would love to have a pair ( hint hint .. lol ) and low and behold she made me a pair ...
I love the color she chose ( the picture does not do it justice ) it's sort of a bright salmon color. So I did the only thing I could, I thanked her of course, and then hinted at how awesome it would be to have some in a bunch of different colors... :D ..
Then I received a second surprise package from my sister~by~choice, Cris, she knows how much I love, like her, all kinds of paper arts and crafting ( we are kindred spirits ) and she also knows that for me it is not always, necessary to have the latest and greatest. I have papers from 5 years ago that I will pull out and still use, I just LOVE paper. So during her mission to declutter and organize her supplies she put together a box for me with all these goodies ...
and they are already packaged as kits, I was in heaven. So I have a ton of projects planned and I will certainly be using a lot of this.

THANK YOU DONNA & CRIS!!!

A Quick Little Project

While going through a craft storage bin I came across a chipboard house form, I think it may be an old Maya Road product I'm not sure, but I decided to work with it. I chose some old Daisy Dee's paper. It did not start out to be Christmas themed but while looking for a button for the door knob I came across a button that looked like a wreath to me. So I pulled out my Stickles and the rest is history. I don't think I'm quite done with it yet, it's lacking something, but I'll keep it in plain site and maybe an idea will come to me.

World Card Making Day

Ok so I was soooo jazzed to sit down this weekend and make cards in honor of World Card Making Day ( not that I really need an excuse to make cards, but it sounded like fun .. :D ..)  So 6AM I get all set up with my supplies, a snack and a drink ..( cause I had planed on being there for the duration ) .. So I make 2 cards, I'm on a roll, and then my dear sister and BFF Cris sent me an invite to a blog hop, so of course I had to check it out and then I checked in at the WCMD site and was busy going through the gallery there. There was sooo much eye candy to see, before I knew it I had spend many many hours looking, more than creating. But I did get a few cards made. These are some old Basic Grey, Cosmo Cricket and Deja Views Paper lines I had.
I even dipped into my Christmas stash.
I may not have made as many cards as I had planned, but I had fun and I loved seeing all the cards that others made, There is a LOT of talent out there.

I hope you had a great weekend

Ready for Fall

I am really getting into the Fall spirit even though it is still quite hot and humid here in Florida. I've been cooking my "cool weather" meals, making many of my favorite pumpkin baked goods ( I am addicted to all things pumpkin), and yesterday while I was shopping I found pretty ribbon with a leaf pattern and some flowers for $1 each, so I came home and rummaged through my stash and found some .. wire mesh (that I formed into a cone),used dryer sheets, plastic mesh ( like that which covers Spiral Hams, I really do keep EVERYTHING .. lol ) and some tassels. Here is the door hanger I made. When I finished it I realized that the cone part has the appropriate colors that I can also use it for Christmas by just changing the flowers and bow.
